Intership FAQ
What is the Management Internship program?
The internship program at Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. is a comprehensive 13-week program designed to expose you to employee responsibilities and management functions. Depending on your effort, it has the potential to be great preparation for your return to school and your chosen career.
What types of employee responsibilities will I have?
Your first 8-10 weeks will be in 2 rotations in the employee role. FOH positions offered are: server, bartender, host or merchandise clerk. BOH positions offered are: line cook, prep cook or expediter. Your last rotation will be in a Management Assistant role. Please note that some positions do have age requirements, which vary by state.
What types of management functions will I learn?
You will be exposed to scheduling, inventory, ordering, P&L, guest interaction, employee coaching, sales and cost control.
What locations provide internships?
Depending on availability, all of our Bubba Gump locations offer internship opportunities.
What is the work week like?
Approximately 30-50 hours/week.
What is the compensation?
If you are in a tipped position during one of your rotations, you will make the standard hourly wage plus tips. If you are in a position without tips, you will make the appropriate hourly wage. Compensation during the Manager Assistant rotation is $500 per week.
Does Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. provide a place to live during the internship?
No. This is the responsibility of each intern.
Does Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. provide transportation to the location of the internship?
No. This is the responsibility of each intern.
Does Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. provide meals during the internship?
You are entitled to a 50% discount on all food during your internship, whether you are on or off your shift.
Who is eligible for an internship?
Select college Sophomores and Juniors.
How will I know how well I’m doing?
You will receive constant feedback from your Manager mentor. Your mentor will guide you through your internship and offer the advice, counseling and feedback necessary to make your internship successful. You will also receive an evaluation at the midpoint and at the conclusion of your internship.
Will I be guaranteed a job prior to graduation?
If you are a strong performer and have proven yourself throughout your internship, you could receive an offer prior to graduation. Those who do not receive automatic offers will have strong consideration into the MIT program upon graduation.
What other responsibilities do I have as an intern?
Interns may be asked to assist with campus recruitment (before and perhaps after graduation).
